Clouded Leopards are a big cat. In fact leopards are the biggest type of cat in the world.Clouded leopards get their name from the cloud shaped spots on their back. They also have claws to help them climb trees. They can actually climb on the bottom of tree trunks and they can climb head first going down a tree. The adult clouded leopards weigh around 15kg and grow to between 60-90 centimeters and their tail is the same length as The their body.
As a clouded leopard kitten they are cared for by their mothers calling with their cute little squeaking cry. The kittens live safely in their den for a couple of months and can leave their mother to live on their own at 12-18 months old. At 2-3 years old they can have kittens of their own. Clouded leopards live for 12-15 years in the wild and in zoos they can live up to 23 years old. In the wild they can not survive by themselves because when they get older they lose their ability and can not catch their own food. But in zoos they can live longer because their food is provided and they are well cared for by vets.
